Section 01

Who We Are

Virapoud (virapoud.com) is an independent digital finance publication covering cryptocurrency exchanges, crypto tools, NFT platforms, Forex markets, DeFi, and financial news. We are operated by the Virapoud editorial team and have been publishing since 2015.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information when you visit our website, subscribe to our newsletter, or otherwise interact with our content. By using Virapoud, you agree to the practices described here.

Plain English Version We’re a content website. We’re not a bank, broker, or financial platform. We don’t hold your money, manage your trades, or store sensitive financial credentials. Our data practices are relatively simple compared to fintech companies.
Section 02

Section 04

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies — small text files stored in your browser — to make the site work properly and to understand how people use it. Here’s what we use:

  • Essential cookies — Required for the site to function. These cannot be turned off. They include session management and security tokens.
  • Analytics cookies — We use Google Analytics to see which articles get read, where our traffic comes from, and how people navigate the site. This data is anonymised and aggregated.
  • Advertising cookies — If we run display ads, advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) may place cookies to show relevant ads based on your browsing history.
  • Preference cookies — Remembering your language setting or display preferences so you don’t have to reset them every visit.
Your Control You can manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Disabling analytics or advertising cookies will not affect your ability to read our content. Visit allaboutcookies.org for guidance on managing cookies across all major browsers.
Section 05

Third-Party Services We Use

Running a modern website means using services built by other companies. Here’s who we work with and why:

  • Google Analytics — Website traffic analysis. Data is anonymised before we see it. Google’s privacy policy applies.
  • Google AdSense / Ad Networks — Advertising that helps fund our free content. Ad partners may use cookies to serve relevant ads.
  • Affiliate Programs — We include affiliate links to crypto exchanges, tools, and brokers we review. If you click a link and sign up, we may earn a commission. This never influences our editorial opinion.
  • Email Service Provider — If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email is stored with a third-party email platform. We use reputable providers that comply with GDPR.
  • WordPress & Hosting — Our CMS and hosting provider process server-level data including IP addresses as part of standard web operation.
  • Social Media Embeds — Embedded tweets, YouTube videos, or social feeds may allow those platforms to set their own cookies when you interact with embedded content.

Each of these third parties operates under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them if you have concerns about how they handle data.

Section 06

Depending on where you are in the world, you have specific legal rights around your personal data. We honour all of them:

Ask us what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy of it.

Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@virapoud.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.

Section 07

How Long We Keep Your Data

We only keep your data for as long as we need it. Here’s our general approach:

  • Contact form submissions are retained for up to 2 years in case of follow-up, then deleted.
  • Newsletter subscriber data is kept for as long as you remain subscribed. After unsubscribing, we delete your email within 30 days.
  • Analytics data is retained in anonymised, aggregated form and does not contain personally identifiable information after processing.
  • Server logs containing IP addresses are purged automatically within 90 days.
  • Any data we’re legally required to keep (for tax or compliance purposes) is retained for the minimum period required by law.
Section 08

Children’s Privacy

Virapoud is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Our content covers financial markets, crypto trading, and investment tools — topics intended for adults.

If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us at privacy@virapoud.com and we will delete it promptly.

Section 09

External Links & Affiliate Disclosure

Our articles contain links to external websites — crypto exchanges, tools, brokers, NFT platforms, and other resources we write about. When you click those links and leave Virapoud, their own privacy policies apply, not ours.

Affiliate Disclosure Some links on Virapoud are affiliate links. This means if you sign up for a service through our link, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund our editorial team and keep the site free. It never influences what we write — we cover products we’ve genuinely evaluated, and we call out the bad ones even when they offer affiliate programs.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party websites. Always review the privacy policy of any platform before sharing personal or financial information with them.

Section 10

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when we add a new feature, adopt a new service, or when regulations change. When we do, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.

For significant changes, we’ll make a reasonable effort to notify newsletter subscribers by email. Continued use of Virapoud after changes are published means you accept the updated policy.

We recommend bookmarking this page and reviewing it occasionally, especially if you’re a regular reader or newsletter subscriber.

Section 11

Questions? Get in Touch.

If you have any questions about this policy, want to exercise your data rights, or just want to know more about how we handle information — we’re easy to reach. We’re a real team and we actually reply.
